Production FAQS, Policies & Procedures

1. Theatre Building Hours:  The Noyes Cultural Arts Center is open Monday-Saturday from 7:30 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. and Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. (Except for Federal Holidays when the building is CLOSED.)  It is possible for theatre staff to be locked in the theatre to continue work after building hours, but during this "lock-in" time, we are restricted to the theatre, dressing rooms and kitchen/restroom off the dressing rooms.  Opening the lobby or kitchen door during "lock in" will set off the building alarm which incurs a hefty fine from the city of Evanston.

2. Building Access: Please confirm your needs of the theatre with the production manager.  Be sure to confirm that it is possible for you to enter the theatre at the time you'd like.

3. Parking:  There are permit parking spaces and metered parking spaces available in the parking lot adjacent to the building.  This lot is free after 6 p.m. Monday-Saturday.  The lot is free all day on Sunday.  You may obtain a daily, monthly or yearly permit for this lot from the city of Evanston. Park in these permit spots without a permit at your own risk.  The city tickets regularly and a ticket for parking here is $40. Contact the production manager for details to obtain a permit.  The metered spots in this lot and along Noyes are 3 hour limit meters, and are 25 cents per half hour.  There is non-metered parking sometimes available on Ridge and Noyes on the other side of Ridge.  The alley behind the theatre belongs to the adjacent apartment building. Park there at your own risk.

4. Budgets and Advances: If you require a budget advance to purchase production materials, please contact the production manager.  Checks are cut on Thursdays, so be sure that your request is received no later than 1 p.m. on Wednesday.  All requests must be received in writing or email.  No verbal or phone requests will be taken.  We do not reimburse for sales tax, so be sure  that you use the Next Theatre TAX LETTER for all purchases.   If, at any time during the process, you require a budget report, you may request one via email to the production manager.  Closing expense reports and receipts are due no later than 5 p.m. of the day following the opening night of each show.

5. House and Charge Accounts:  The Next Theatre maintains the following house charge accounts.  (COMING SOON!) Be sure to check with the production manager before using these accounts.

6. Storage:  The Next Theatre has VERY LITTLE storage space.  At no time should the dressing rooms or backstage be used to store construction materials or tools.  The area in the rear of the house may be used as a temporary storage area.  This area must be cleared at the end of the season, so be certain to clarify storage needs with the production office before you use this area.  Unused electrics inventory should be stored under the deck.  During the technical period the house may be utilized as temporary storage, as well.  Be certain that the side aisles are always clear, and that the back aisle of the house is clear for tech tables.  A complete inventory of Electrics, Sound, Soft Goods and OTHER inventory is maintained HERE.

7. Security:  During the regular season we have almost exclusive access to the theatre, however the kitchen area is a public use area, which means that there is access to the dressing rooms and theatre.  Be careful that personal items, and valuable props and equipment are locked in the booth.
